A private-label sports bra brief should state the intended activity and wearer needs before selecting fabrics or styling details. Support descriptions need a defined basis. Do not assign a broad “high support” claim to a design solely because it has wide straps or a firm fabric.
Define the intended fit and construction
Record the target size system, coverage, neckline, back shape and whether cups, lining or removable components are part of the design. Identify the intended activity and the criteria you want wear trials to assess. The development team needs more than a front photograph to understand the garment's interior and adjustment features.
Provide measurements and explain how the underband and strap dimensions are taken. Where fit expertise or specialist testing is needed, agree that scope before treating a sample as ready for sale.
Review components as a connected system
- Underband: position, pressure, rolling and stability during the intended movement.
- Straps: length, adjustment range, placement and contact with the shoulder.
- Body and lining: coverage, stretch, recovery and seams against the skin.
- Cups or inserts: shape, retention, edge visibility and movement during washing.
- Hardware: attachment, surface finish and wearer contact.
Changing one component can affect the rest. A firmer band may alter how the garment sits, while a different lining may change stretch. Record the material and component references on every sample version.
Use structured wear feedback
Agree who will evaluate the sample and under what conditions. Record size, fit context, activity and the location of pressure or movement. Consolidate comments into one decision log and separate styling preferences from functional concerns.
Review dimensions and appearance after the intended care process. Inspect elastic, seams, decoration and removable parts. If you plan a performance claim, establish what evidence supports it rather than inferring performance from visual inspection.
Questions before the production handoff
Can a legging fabric automatically be used for the matching bra?
Review suitability for each component. Matching colour does not mean the same structure meets the different garment requirements.
Is a standard size chart enough?
Use a style-specific chart and agreed grading with a suitable fit review. Different constructions may need different dimensions and checks.
Coordinate colour with your legging development and submit the bra reference, size system and intended use.
