A clothing reorder should begin with a specification review, even when the style code is unchanged. Material availability, dye lots, trims and production details can change between orders. Keeping an old sample is useful, but the repeat order also needs a written record of what must remain consistent.

Assemble a repeat-order reference pack

Include the approved tech pack version, measurement chart, fabric and trim references, colour standards, decoration files and packing instructions. Identify the retained sample and its approval date. Record any corrections accepted during the previous order so they are not forgotten or treated as new requirements.

Use the latest approved version, not simply the most recent file in an email thread. If the commercial order references an older document, resolve that mismatch before production starts.

Ask what has changed since the last order

  • Is the same material reference available from the same source?
  • Does the order require a new dye or print lot?
  • Are the original trims, labels and hardware still available?
  • Have patterns, artwork or process instructions been revised?
  • Do quantities, size allocation or delivery requirements differ?

A proposed substitute should identify the difference and the checks needed for approval. Similar composition or colour description alone does not establish equivalence in drape, fit or decoration behaviour.

Agree the evidence needed for release

Use the change review to decide whether new swatches, colour submissions, decoration samples or garment samples are required. Review matching sets and replacement garments against the retained reference where consistency matters. Confirm which material lots will be used and how any accepted variation is documented.

Reconfirm MOQ, price, material readiness and production timing. A past quotation or successful delivery does not automatically establish current commercial conditions. Keep changes visible so commercial decisions do not silently alter the garment.

Questions about reorders

Does using the same pattern guarantee the same fit?

No. Material and finishing changes can affect the result. Confirm the measurement and care checks relevant to the repeat order.

Can replacement pieces match a previous shipment exactly?

Discuss the expected match and the available material. New lots or components may require a fresh approval against the retained reference.

Use the colour approval process and MOQ checklist. Send the previous order reference and new allocation to start the reorder review.
